Eligibility Criteria for India Post GDS Recruitment 2024

India Post GDS Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must possess a Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English from any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India, State Governments, or Union Territories in India.

Local Language Proficiency:

  • Applicants should have studied the local language at least up to the 10th standard from a recognized board. The details of post-wise local languages prescribed by the below section of this article.

Special Provision for Arunachal Pradesh:

  • 'English or Hindi' studied at least up to the 10th standard.
  • Any of the 23 tribal local languages/dialects recognized as 'Third Language' by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Since these languages/dialects are not currently taught up to the 10th standard, proficiency will be ascertained by a certificate issued by the concerned Deputy Commissioners or an authorized officer. This certificate must be presented during the physical verification of documents.

Other Qualifications:

For the India Post GDS Recruitment 2024, the age limit as of 5th August 2024 is set between a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 40 years for Unreserved (UR) candidates. Age relaxations are provided for various categories: Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates receive a relaxation of 5 years, Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates get a 3-year relaxation, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are granted a 10-year relaxation. Shortlisting of Candidates on Merit Basis

  • Marks obtained in each subject are considered. If only grades are provided, a multiplication factor of 9.5 is applied to convert grades to marks.
  • For applicants with both grades and CGPA, the higher value will be used.
  • Applicants from certain boards, like the Delhi Board of School Education, must enter percentages as given in their mark sheets.

Special Cases:

The Tamil Nadu State Board did not provide marks or grade points for the year 2020-2021 due to COVID-19, and a uniform 66.67% will be awarded for those candidates.

Tie-breaking Criteria:

In the event of a tie, the following order of priority is used: Date of Birth (older candidates first), followed by gender and category (e.g., ST trans-woman, SC female, etc.).

Application Accuracy:

  • Incomplete or inaccurate applications, including those with wrong or unnecessary documents, will be rejected.
  • Shortlisted candidates must submit an undertaking regarding the authenticity of the information provided.

Salary Structure for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS)
