Haryana HSSC Stenographer (Steno-Typist) Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Skill Test & Selection Process

Haryana Staff Selection commission HSSC has recently released the Notification for the recruitment of Stenographer (Steno-typist) on 1838 post for the various department of Haryana State. Online Application window is opened on 21/07/2024 and will be open till 31/07/2024. Haryana HSSC Stenographer (Steno-Typist) Exam Pattern 2024

The examination for the Haryana HSSC Stenographer 2024 will be conducted offline using an OMR-based written test. The question paper will be bilingual, available in both English and Hindi. The exam will consist of 100 compulsory questions, each carrying 0.975 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, but a deduction of 0.975 marks will be applied for each unattempted question. Candidates will be given a total of 105 minutes to complete the exam, which includes an extra 5 minutes specifically for marking the fifth option if they are unsure about an answer.

Note 1 : Total Time Allowed: 105 minutes (including 5 extra minutes for marking the fifth option)

Note 2 :No negative marking for incorrect answers, but unattempted questions will result in a deduction of 0.975 marks each.

Note 3 : In view of Hon’ble High Court judgement dated 31.05.2024 in LPA No. 1037/2023, the weightage of socio-economic marks of 2.5% in the scheme of marks has been done away with.

Note : The shorthand and transcription tests for the aforementioned posts will be conducted as computer-based tests. For Hindi, the tests will use the Kruti Dev 10 font at size 14, while for English, the Arial font at size 12 will be used. The line spacing for the Steno skilled test will be set to 1.5 points.

HSSC Stenographer (Steno-Typist) Selection Process 2024

  • Application Receipt and Examination: Once applications are received, the Commission will conduct an offline written examination or skill test for eligible candidates. The selection for these tests is based on the merit list of CET (Common Eligibility Test) marks.
    • Eligibility for Examination:
      • For posts advertised in numbers less than 30, candidates equal to five times the number of posts will be eligible.
      • For posts between 30 and 40, up to 150 candidates will be considered.
      • For posts greater than 40, candidates equal to four times the number of posts will be eligible.
  • Handling CET Cut-Off Marks: If multiple candidates achieve the same CET marks as the last eligible candidate, all such candidates will be considered for the skill and/or written examination.
  • Admit Card Issuance: Only those candidates who meet the minimum educational qualifications and other eligibility criteria specified in the advertisement will be issued an admit card and be eligible to appear in the skill and/or written examination.
  • Common Examination for Similar Posts: If there are multiple posts with similar educational qualifications but different nomenclatures, the Commission may conduct a common skill and/or written examination. The allocation of posts will be based on merit and the preferences indicated by successful candidates.
  • Extension for Application Deadline: If the number of eligible candidates is below the specified limit, the Commission may extend the application deadline to accommodate more candidates.
  • Minimum Marks Requirement:
    • For general category candidates, a minimum of 50% marks in the skill and/or written examination is required for selection.
    • Reserved category candidates are given a 10% concession, making the minimum qualifying marks 40% for skill and/or written examination.
  • Shortlisting and Publication: Based on the examination marks, the Commission will shortlist candidates for selection, recommendation, or waiting lists in respective categories. The results will be published on the Commission's website.
  • Handling Unfilled Posts: If no eligible candidates are available in a specific category, the post may be re-advertised according to the reservation policy.
  • Marking Scheme: For the HSSC Stenographer (Steno-Typist) 2024, where the total examination marks are 100, the maximum achievable marks will be 97.5. General category candidates need at least 48.75 marks (50% of 97.5) for consideration, while reserved category candidates need at least 39 marks (40% of 97.5).
